Recently, the COVID-19 has hit Chengdu, which has issued an urgent prevention and control announcement due to the grim and complicated situation. When an epidemic breaks out, a command is issued. It is our responsibility to prevent and control it.
In order to resolutely implement the deployment requirements of the University CPC Committee on epidemic prevention and control, help epidemic prevention and control, and win the battle against the COVID-19, the CPC Committee of our school actively responded to the call of the University. On the noon of September 1, an Emergency Enlarged Joint Party-government Conference was held, and the epidemic prevention and control work of the school was arranged immediately, setting up a leading group for epidemic prevention and control emergency work of the School, headed by Party Secretary and Dean, along with other members of leading group as deputy leaders, and the office directors as liaison officers, to coordinate the epidemic prevention and control work of all faculty members and students in the School, as well as timely deal with emergencies. At the same time, working groups of both Xipu Campus and Jiuli Campus were established. Tian Yongxiu, Li Xueyong, Xie Yu, Yang Weibin, and Yang Huan were in charge of Xipu Campus, and Tian Yongxiuacted as the leader. While Liao Jun, Hu Zixiang, and Xiong Yu were in charge of Jiuli Campus, with Liao Jun as the group leader. Considering that freshmen just entered the School, in order to timely understand and appease students’ emotions, members of leading group quickly went to students’ dormitories to visit and care about students after the Conference. Meanwhile, the School issued a ‘Red Mobilization Order’ for epidemic prevention and control, all members of the leadership took the lead in setting an example, and led a total of 15 CPC members of School faculty members to join the University Party volunteers of faculty members. Although other faculty members were far away from the campus, they still actively signed up and expressed their willingness to stand by as backup forces to help and support University’s anti-epidemic front line.
At the school nucleic acid test sites, Party volunteers of faculty members of the School of Marxism Liu Yubiao, Yang Huan, and Men Manzhou, quickly turned into ‘workers wearing white protective suits’ and cooperated with University in nucleic acid testing. In the afternoon of early autumn, it was still hot. Faced with the surging number of test personnel and the urgent testing time, they did not shrink back at all. They stuck to their positions, and patiently and carefully participated in scanning codes for nucleic acid testing, sticking test tube codes, answering questions, and maintaining the order of nucleic acid testing. On September 2, the volunteer service started in the morning and lasted until the cold night. Even when the nucleic acid network system was suspended, Party volunteers of school faculty members wearing protective suits stood by at any time. They fought side by side with the university staff as well as medical staff to build a line of defense against the epidemic with great love.
In the midst of the epidemic, the staff and Party volunteers of the School of Marxism stuck to their posts and made active contributions, letting the Party flag be planted in the front line and the Party members take the lead in the front line, and acted as the ‘backbone’, ‘close friends’ as well as ‘good examples’ for students, showing a image of Party members with ideal, ability, and responsibility. Their Party member image also silently infected and affected our school’s freshmen, who picked up paper and pens to write firm applications to join the Communist Party of China at this special moment.
On the morning of September 2, 2022, Chen Ting, a student of our school, also actively responded to the call of our university, actively contacted the community by phone to sign up for the voluntary service of COVID-19 prevention and control, and joined in the community epidemic prevention and control work. Under the arrangement of the community staff, Chen Ting was responsible for taking temperature of residents in a housing estate, organizing residents to queue in an orderly manner, coordinating and organizing the vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, pregnant women, and the disabled to enter the next step first, as well as maintaining the on-site order. In addition to temperature measurement, she was also responsible for information recording, carefully reminding residents to scan the code and input the information without being careless. She put the vital interests of every resident in her mind. In case of emergencies, she explained to residents carefully and calmed their emotions to ensure the smooth progress of detection work. As an ordinary university student, Chen Ting has fulfilled her original aspiration and mission with her own actions. She said, “As a probationary member of the Communist Party of China, I always bear in mind my responsibility and undertaking. I feel proud and honored to contribute my own strength to the epidemic prevention and control work.”
The epidemic is merciless, but Party members are loving, working together to fight against the epidemic. More and more faculty members and students of the School were participating in the fight against the epidemic. Everyone was deeply aware that there were no outsiders in epidemic prevention and control, and everyone should do their part to protect the peace of our campus with feelings and sweat. Moreover, we firmly believe that as long as we work together as one, we will win this battle as soon as possible!
